Hard Rock Cafe

Today, we had a team building activity in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. I was so excited to know we will have our lunch in .Hard Rock Cafe. Well, we needed to make our order before departing, in order to save our time for waiting. We were given 3 options:-

i) Cheese Bacon Burger

ii) Pulled pork sandwich

iii) Boneless Smoked BBQ Chicken

They look damn nice, aren't they?

The foods here were served in huge portion, many of us actually couldn't finish the food. The dish I tried was Cheese Bacon Burger. I ordered this as I thought it was pork bacon. However, it was actually beef. Oh gosh, I don't like beef. Okay, I had not choice and I was forced to take it.

I would say the cheese bacon was nicely cooked, but I don't enjoyed. I don't like the smell of beef. So let's talk about the fries. This lunch set was served with fries. Their fries was very nice and it truly caught my appetite. It was not oily and it was crispy as I was eating potato chips. Normally the fries served in other restaurant likes Manhanttan Fish Market, Nandos are more oily. It wasn't here. Thus, I pretty like the fries.

Side dishes
I thought they will serve with mushroom soup, they served onion soup instead. It is distasteful, oily and the smell of onion fragrance was too strong. It was not a ordinary soup and I saw many of my colleagues just tried for at most 2 table spoons, and they started to leave down the spoon and chose to continue chatting instead of enjoying the soup.

Service
Actually, we requested a microphone from the management when we booked for carrying out a small activity in the cafe. They agreed to lend us at first place. While, they changed their mind when there were few walk-in customers. The reason provided by the management was they need to respect the customers. Okay well, there were just 2 of them, and our group have about 70 people. So " don't you have to respect us?" One of my colleague, the MC needed to shout to run the activity. While, there was one funny scene. Actually, the crews, the customers in other tables were all looking at the games we played. But, for sure, they can't hear clearly what my colleague said. So, if the management do think from all perspective, and they lend us the mic, we probably can help them to have a free entertainment to their customers.

Above all, the experience I had was totally under expectation. I estimated this lunch costs us at least few thousand. The services and food do not worth this amount paid. I would suggest to go for a buffet in hotel instead.

Fattes Park Fatty Loh Chicken Rice

This would be one of the Chicken Rice I like-->> The famous Fatty Loh Chicken Rice at Fattes Park. [ Behind James Foo Western Restoran ]

The taste of the food is nice. The chicken is very smooth which couldn't stop us from leave down our spoon and fork. There is one meal - the RM 1 Kuey Teow Th'ng. It is just good enough for a lady. I like that, as I don't eat much and the RM1 small portion is kind like it is prepared for me. I deeply hope that there are more hawkers stall will offer the same portion of food like this.
I think it can attract crowd as most ladies are on diet for beauty purpose. They choose to skip dinner. If this portion of food is served, this will be a good news to those ladies, they can escape from the suffer of skipping dinner yet they can on diet by having a light dinner.

Besides, I like the atmosphere here. Where the arrangement and the usage of iron plate to serve customers let us feel like having meal at home. It  is so warmly.

The Famous "Sotong Mee" and 'Coconut Shake" in Esplanade Food Court

Hi travelers I guess there is a must try local food that you seriously can not miss if you are travelling in Pulau  Penang. Sotong Mee, or directly translated into English is "Squid Noodle".

I have heard of it for so long and today I finally have a chance to savor the famous noodle.

The food court can be reached pretty easily, it is just around the corner of Penang Unesco Heritage, just opposite the entrance of the Cornwallies.

The food court looks like a typical Malaysian food court, I mean no air-con and its not luxurious. Usually these "unluxurious" places are actually where you can taste the true cultures of Penang.

The dish looks so hot and spicy, you will be so delightful if you are feverish over spicy food. It is quite spicy, the squid is cut into slices, and are easily chewable. You must squeeze the piece of lime comes with the noodle, because it makes the taste wonderful.

The price of the food is reasonable, it ranges from RM 4.00 to RM 6.00 (subject to change), depends on the size you ordered. If you order extra squid slices, don't feel stunned by a higher price.

The price mainly depends on the size you order

They expect you to order fast when their business is busy, but they don't scold
This is the look of the delicious Sotong Mee
This is without spicy source one because my friend doesn't like spicy . I don't think is good.

~Coconut Shake~
If you can't eat spicy food or you can't stand the spiciness, there is a solution for you, "Coconut Shake", which is also another attraction of this food court. The price is RM 2.50 for a glass. This beverage is a mixture of coconut and vanilla ice cream, you can see the ice cream float submerges from the glass. It is sweet and icy, especially you know Malaysia is an equatorial country, the weather is so hot. It effectively relieves your heat.

This is so sexy and attractive when the weather is damn hot
The stall looks ordinary but they sell extraordinary Drink
So if you have a chance to visit the Great Cornwallies, why don't you have a lunch over there. Oh yeah, There are also other delicious food in the food court. Cheers!!!

James Foo Western Food

A random thought of having western food as our 20th month celebration. We was surfing for any good deal to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, sometimes it is really hard to find good deal in Penang. My Bf suggested :"why don't we try the famous restaurant - James Foo in Tanjung bungah." So, without further consideration, we went there the next day. Never go to one of the most famous Western Food Restaurant in Penang will be a shame as well right.
It was a rainy Friday night, the restaurant was fully occupied and fortunately we managed to get a small table near to the corner. We didn't capture the signboard, and this was taken from web. James Foo Western Food is famous enough for us to get any single photo we need about them. Eg, Food, Menu, Environment. I would share my personal experience there.

Personally I liked their menu. It have clearly stated the variety of food they serve and some picture as reference. Most of the menu in other restaurants normally show "Main Course, Beverage", kind like this.

I managed to get some photos of the menu. The waitress actually kept the menu from me when they saw I am taking photo. While, i wasn't sure whether they don't like people to take photo, or they just wanted to keep that.
The Fish
The Fish
The Lamb Chop
The Combo and the Pork

Garlic chicken chop
I picked the Grilled Garlic Chicken Chop. Because I wish to figure out what is the difference of their chicken chop from others, why is it so famous in Penang.

Personally I like garlic, and garlic has made the dish even more special, we seldom can find this in a menu of Western Food. And this do really make the sauce more heavy in taste and more scrumptious.

PRICE : RM8

My bf ordered the combo one. Grilled Chicken n "Lamb"combo. This is nice if you want to try different food at once. Besides, I felt that this is a cuisine that is welly-suited the girls. There are variety foods in small portion and thus it can satisfy the choosy girls. This is definitely my choice if I see this. As i was rush to washroom and missed out this menu. My bf know me well and he ordered this.

PRICE : RM 11.00
soda drink

The menu write cool ice-cream soda, and my bf thought there is ice-cream on top of the soda. He was shocked to see the waiter served us with this canned drink and it costs RM2.50.

Overall the food is quite nice in James Foo. And the price is reasonable too. It worth the prominence and compliment from people.

Camping in Pantai Kerachut

KERACUT located at the end of Teluk Pahang. It is so called Penang National Park. (The smallest national park in Malaysia.). You can reach Pantai Keracut by hiking or boat. This is a pleasant place for hiking lover. I like the beauty of nature here.

The entrance
There was one day, we went to the beach near to Flamingo Hotel. We lied on the beach and listened to the waves, the feeling was calm. This was the inspiration that inspired us to go for camping in Kerachut Beach.

~ The journey to feel the lovely of nature ~

What to prepare?
A brief preparation is needed since it is not a day trip. Things like Tent, Water, Food, are compulsory. Different people may require different amount. It depends. We brought a bottle of 5 litre + 2 X 1.5 litre water, a few packs of instant noodle, and some canned  food with us. A considerate reminder, if there are only 2 people a bottle of 5 litre water will be enough. Too much water will be the burden of the hike.

Beware of this, make sure you are on the right track
As we reached there, it was 5 something pm, we registered ourselves at the counter and begun the journey immediately, because we wanna catch the sunset, so we have to reached there by 7 pm.

We captured the beach once we passed the main entrance. There were people building sand castle with their children. Yup! This place will be a good location for family gathering as else.

If you don't wish to travel the long and winding journey leading to Teluk Pahang, the beach near Flamingo Hotel which I have mentioned above would be a good option for family trip instead.

Okay this is the first junction for us to choose the destination. We chose the left path heads to Pantai Kerachut. I heard some of the friends who went to Monkey Beach and Muka Head Light house before. They suggested it is a good place, but the hiking journey will be much longer and tougher. We will share the information once we have the chance to pay a visit.

~Jungle Trekking~
The trekking was easy at the beginning, even when going up hill. But later on, it was so tough and exhausting because of the heavy package that we carried with us. It was actually trekking in a jungle, so frequently we went up and down hill, and it became challenging to us when it came to a very steep passage. There rocky step  stone and rope in steep passage to avoid slipping. Along the way, we kept on chatting and talking endlessly and joyfully.

On the way heading to Pantai Keracut, there was an incident happened, in around 6:45 pm, we felt that we were not in the right track, we felt like missing in the jungle when the sky started to turn dark. We were silent in the moment, and after a some discussion, we decided to take my suggestion, going back to the last junction we passed. and take the other route. And fortunately, my instinct was correct, I could recognize the route later on, as I has been here for a few times before.

Here we are..

~The Sunset~
Yet, the most important was we managed to witness the spectacular sunset at the right time once we reached.

Without wasting a moment, we open up our tent and lied on it and enjoy the sunset. The sky near to the horizon was red and orange in color. The sun was in a total red, the school of cloud covering the sun was in full red, lighter than the sun, the group of could farther away from the sun was orange and a golden layer of could was above them. The scene was tremendously charming and romantic, and certainly it was even better with the endless sound of the wave. The sunset was brief, real fast, and later on darkness has totally cover the sky and the beach.

~Facilities~

After talking to the ranger over there and showing our camping permit, we started setting up our tent, and went for shower. There is toilet and bathroom over there, and in the campsite the is a place like a kitchen under a shelter. The facility is good over there, all basic necessity are available. And we have company also, there 2 more groups of campers there.

After the rejuvenating shower, we filled up our hungry stomach with the instant food that we brought. Instead of setting a fire, which to me is not environmental, we cooked with a portable stove, which was pretty convenient to use. After the refreshment, for sure we wanted to go for a stroll along the beach.
Next, a big surprise was brought to us by our luck, that night the sky was stellar. I really didn't expect it, because the sky was cloudy during the sunset, and he told me there might not be stars tonight. He was always told by his mum that the stars are so obvious when the place is in sheer dark. But we never had an opportunity to witness it until tonight we can prove that it was so true. I can't recall that whether there was moon in the night, because the stars were so wonderful, they are fully scattered in the sky. The stars were the brightest that I have ever seen, they really twinkling constantly if you check on them intently. I knew that the light of the star that we can see is not the reflection of the sunlight, because each star is like some kind of sun, in far far far away. By understanding this fact, it made me felt that the universe and this world is too big, and me myself was like nothing as compared to it, recalled back all the problems and emotions that I had in the past, they were actually nothing, there had actually no value for me to mind and to hate. we were too small and micro. With the sound of the wave, it made it even relaxing and relieving, and for some moment, my mind was really in a state of empty, and the feeling was rare. We just let our mind indulged in the emptiness for some time, focused on the stars and the wave. The wave is really hardworking, it beats the beach restlessly.

~The Next Morning~
We woke up early in the next morning, snapping lots of wonderful scenes and playing with a flying plate, I don't know what is its name. It was really fun to play with it, for guys I guess. When you throw it, it will  fly slowly and land slowly, and you can't quite predict where it gonna land. Perhaps it was too tiring for a female, so I stop after a moment and focus on the beautiful scene. And the bf continued playing that by himself for a while, it was ok, because if you throw it high it will fly back to your direction.

A sea shell found on the beach

After strolling for a while, we back to the camp site for break first, instant food again. Perhaps next time, we should bring some healthier food. After taking bath and packing up out stuff, we were ready to end this beautiful trip. In fact we didn't interact much with other campers last night and they were sleeping in morning when we were up. We eventually waved at them and talked to them. We learnt that they were here for fishing and they often went here for fishing.

After that it was time for jungle trekking, again and it meant the trip had really came to an end. We miss that starry so much.

Below are some photos from us.

Registration counter
Registration is needed to get permit ticket

Resting station.

This is one special feature in Pantai Kerachut. The lake water is hot at the bottom and cold on the top area

There is a turtle rehabilitation center.

The pretty sunset which has really cheers us from the tiredness journey.
Can you see the whole cycle of the sunset until the sun is really out of the sight.

This is a special history. This route was actually blocked by the hill long time ago.
The signboard clearly wrote the history of this. And the last sentence of the signboard written : "
Only you can think of the answer, why the ancestor wanted to dug the hill and created the route. "
