Pulau Langkawi

Langkawi is an island facing to the Kedah state. There are 2 approaches to get there, by ship or by flight. I went there with my bf and 2 best friends Shuyi and Shirlyn via fireflyz.

On the other hand, if you plan to go Langkawi by ship, the price is about RM25 per way from Kuala
Kedah port or about RM18 per way from Kuala Perlis. It definitely takes a longer time, while you can have different experience.

The first thing to do when you reach the airport is definitely to grab a map. Remember to find the one which has clearer image of the road and also all the tourism spots. Then, we looked for a rent car. Since we were not going in the peak period. So fortunately we managed to rent a Proton Kancil at RM80 for 3D2N, please don't expect to get this price, because I also thought that was exceptionally cheap. Normally, the price is RM100.
*Try to negotiate
Through guidance of the maps, we drove to Pantai Cenang to find our accommodation.

By the way, I think in Langkawi, it is the best to get around by yourself and I think it is so silly to take a tour package for Langkawi.

AB motel - Pantai Cenang

The price is just about RM120 ( quarter room). The motel service is good, and it has many good feed backs as well on the net. While, too bad to say that but the room is a bit sandy (close to beach). The hotel is located beside the Cenang beach, you can walk to Cenang beach to watch the beautiful sunset.

The room is simple and clean
This is the AB motel that I have stayed

** You can get the cheapest price for "island hopping tour" there

RM25 per person (normally people get about RM35 and they actually go to the same places, if possible can get your ticket here even you are not staying at this motel)

There are stalls, shops and restaurant operating at night. There are clothes, souvenirs and local food too. You can get your souvenirs for friends here at a reasonable price. So, highly recommend to stay in Cenang for one night in Langkawi. Besides, to fill up your tummy, there are many restaurants like Mamak, Seafood and Pubs around.

Some photos from Pantai Cenang night view...

~Day 2…~

We woke at 8am, had a light breakfast and waited for the island hopping at 9am. We had to check out before 12pm. So for safety purpose, we checked out before going to island hopping and left our luggage in the rented car.
This is pantai cenang

The journey of island hopping started at a jetty located less than 10 minutes car ride from AB motel

Along the way....
The first place we went is -->>
Pulau Dayang Bunting (pregnant maiden island).
There were many notorious monkeys walking around and you must beware of your stuff. If you carry handbag or something else, remember to carry them higher. The notorious monkeys will “rob” your thing if your hand carry is easily reachable.

The lake is surrounded by mountain and you can rent a lifejacket to play in the lake water.

The journey where might be attacked by the monkeys

Took a group photo before proceed to the next destination
There is a legend behind this island. Rumor has it, you can get pregnant after drinking the lake water. Come on, sure it is a lie and maybe you can have a try.. =P

Eagle feeding
Then, we went to eagle feeding.
There were many eagles lingering around in the blue sky. They were so pretty... While, technically, it puts eagle feeding but in fact we don't actually feed them with our own hands, the tour guide will throw some fishes around our boat and the eagles will approach and take the fish.

Actually the Name "Langkawi" can be broken down as below:
Lang - means eagle...(Helang)
Kawi - is one of the colour of the eagle feather
There are lots of this eagle inhabit in this island and thus, so called Langkawi.

Whereas, it is told that better not to feed eagle there. Because, they will become dependent on the food provided and they will lose their ability to hunt and it damage the ecosystem.

Pulau Beras Basah.
This was the last destination of the package and the place we enjoyed the most. We bathed and played and we actually saw some coral on the sea bed. I tried to touch one of them, I was very excited while I felt disgusted as I touched it. The water here was so clear, however there was no toilet in this island at all.

The snap shot of us and the clear water

Miss the clear water so much

That’s the end of the island hopping. Since we have checked out and we proceeded to the next destination straight away. As we planned to go another side of Langkawi, which will took about half an hour journey... We are forced to clean up ourselves and took bath in hotel nearby.

Langkawi Cable Car~

We headed to the Langkawi cable car next. This is a place that shouldn't be missed out in Langkawi, as the cable car is the steepest cable car in Southeast Asia

.

~~

A Damn steep cable car ride
At 5pm, it was time for cable car and we were so fascinated to take the cable car. The cable car was the steepest that I had ever tried, damn steep and horrifying.

It was too bad that it was a misty day. We missed the chance to see the beautiful scene of natural greenery and forestry clearly.

This is a waterfall where you can see in your cable car journey

Snapped at Cable car

Price : RM15 for MyKad holder after 5pm, RM30 for non- MyKad holder.

~Teladah Tujuh~

Since we needed to wait until 5pm for the cable, we went to another place nearby - -Telagah tujuh (The 7 wells)

went waterfall 1st while waiting to 5pm!!!

 say cheersss

The journey to Telagah Tujuh was tough (we needed to hike and the path was pretty steep) . We decided to give up that. Instead we stopped at a waterfall. The waterfall was spectacular, the water splashed from a giant cliff wall. It was too bad we didn't bring extra clothes, so we just could smell the water and hear the splashes. However It was so relaxing..... I bet our happiness is clearly shown in our face.

~Kuah Town~

After that, searched for accommodation again. We drove to tanjung rhu and pass by the Black Sand Beach. The place was not so attractive any more as it was polluted. There was no cheap hotel / motel in tanjung rhu there, so we drove to Kuah Town.

~Sunset in Tanjung Rhu~
By the way, it was told that the most magnificent sunset of Langkawi is in Tanjung Rhu. So bad that we missed at the right place and right time.

~Cheap Chocolate~There are many duty free shops in Kuah Town. And you can actually get cheaper chocolate here than any other place in Langkawi. We compared the price of chocolate from different stalls around there. What we noticed was some shops actually sell certain brand in cheaper price.

Kuah town have no noisy night life like Pantai Cenang. It was kind of death town at night. So, what we could do was shopping, cheaper duty free stuff like chocolate and beer.
For the alcohol drink, you are just entitled to bring out 1 bottle from langkawi with the T&C that you stay more than 48hours in Langkawi. But no worry, if you take ferry, ferry tickets with dates that suit you to the T&C are also available in most stores.

Azio Hotel – our accommodation for the 2nd day. They have very new facilities and the receptionist is very kindful and friendly. It is a highly recommended place to stay.

Thumbs up =)

~Tanjung Rhu (Famous for Sun set)~
We woke up at 6am as we planned to see the sunrise in tanjung rhu, so we got to take a 20minutes journey to the place. Unfortunately, we found that we made a big mistake when we reached. The sunrise shouldn't be here, it was supposed to be the place to view a tremendous sunset. So we Randomly took some photo there.

~Hanging around~

"Durian Waterfall" another spectacular waterfall in Langkawi, sadly, by the time we went there, it was too early and we can't see other tourist besides us, without the crowd this tourism spot was a little bit creepy.

Beers time ~~
Air Hangat
There is hotspring. However only foot bathing is allowed

The landmark is under renovation

We were totally washed out after rushing a few places. We went to a shopping mall there, and have some rest on the Ogawa massage chair before departure.

Lastly, on the way back to airport, we drove back to Cenang beach again and have our last shooting session....

Instead of traveling a long haul to Malacca, you can taste delicious crepe cake in Northam Beach Restorant, Penang too. Northam Beach has a wide spectrum of food, ranges from western food, Malaysian local food, seafood, snack and so forth.

There is a stall selling French food by a young couples. You can get different flavors of crepe cake here.
Vanilla Flavor Crepe Cake
Durian flavor Crepe Cake

The photos above are Durian and Vanilla flavor. They are very nice. The most delicious part of the cake is the feeling of the "multilayer". The texture is not as soft as ordinary cake, and it's good. The mixture of the cream makes the cake taste even better and special.
